“Medi-Cal was a lifeline to my family when I was growing up. My parents were immigrants who worked hard but still didn’t make enough to afford health care and Medi-Cal filled that gap to keep us healthy. It continued to fill that gap when my parents retired and my dad got sick, providing him with wraparound care that gave him dignity at the end of his life. It inspired me to become a physician where I see my family’s story in my patients every day. Cutting Medi-Cal will hurt low-income and diverse communities like the one I grew up in in the Central Valley the most. For many families, like mine, this is their only chance at living a great, healthy life. We must ensure everyone has access to affordable healthcare.”
