“I grew up in the foster care system—one of the most vulnerable populations in our society. Because of my status, I have been eligible for Medi-Cal until the age of 26. This coverage has been a lifeline, and any budget cuts would be devastating. Medi-Cal gave me access to so much more than behavioral health services – it provided me with a safe, nurturing community where I could have a hot meal, shower, do my laundry, and participate in support groups. Those of us who have, and do, depend on Medi-Cal to survive are pleading with Congress – do not balance budgets on the backs of those who are already fighting to survive. Prioritize funding for Medi-Cal.”
